The day I met my tailbone… As you lose weight you need to prepare yourself for some surprises. My tailbone was one of my surprises.
When I first came across my tailbone it seemed abnormal…out of place. It kept getting in the way. Every time I’d sit down…there it was. I imagined the craziest things and I was obsessed with it for a couple of months. I happen to have a friend who is a Physician’s Assistant so one night when she was visiting I asked her about it. She assured me that it was just my coccyx (tailbone). She let me know that it’s normal to come across body parts that you haven’t been in touch with for a long time when you lose weight.
I’ve also found a protruding bones in my shoulders and elbows. They stick out enough to cause me to notice them. I’m pretty sure (after a little googling) that the bone in my shoulder is called an Acromion. I’ve got no idea what the name of the bone near my elbow is called.
Yes this is a good thing…being thinner and getting to know my body in a new way. But when I first came across my coccyx I really thought I might have something wrong with me. I know, I know…ridiculous! You see…I am a bit of a hypochondriac so things like this are a little unnerving at times. Once my friend Susan told me it was normal, my tailbone stopped getting in the way. Well once in a while when I sit down there it’ll be…that darn coccyx, but not too often.
