Today I am inspired by the fires in Mt. Charleston which is just outside of Las Vegas. For those of you who live in Vegas you are well aware, if you’ve been outside today, that the fires are impossible to ignore. The northern sky is blanketed with smoke and Mt. Charleston looks like a volcano.
As I drove north on Durango this afternoon I was moved by the scene to my west. I found myself getting emotional. I cannot explain it…but seeing the smoke rising from behind the mountain and drifting northeast was surreal.
I assumed the fire was caused by a human. I was wrong, lightening (or I suppose your could say Mother Nature) started it. Learning this, changed my perspective.
This is a very serious situation. The fire has burned nearly 20,000 acres and to date has cost nearly five million dollars. It is not yet contained and there are many structures at risk.
What does this have to do with Wellness Tips? Today’s tip is about the heart.
Today I am asking you to be grateful. Express gratitude for all of the blessings in your life, the ones you are aware of and the ones you are not. Express gratitude for your amazing body, mind, and heart. Give thanks for being on the journey to wellness. Be thankful for waking up this morning. Be grateful for the weight you have and will release on your journey. Be grateful for having a roof over your head, loving family, and supportive friends.
By expressing gratitude you open your heart to healing, love, hope, and new possibilities.
“Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.” ~ Brian Tracy
Today’s tip… Express gratitude daily. Document everything you are grateful for each day… in a journal, record a message on your phone, create a gratitude list on your tablet, heck there’s an app for that.
If you miss a day, that’s okay. Don’t fret! You will be amazed the impact gratitude will have on your perspective and sense of wellbeing. So shut down your computer and be grateful…
“Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.” ~ Henry Ward Beecher
